2011 Bar exams will be 60% multiple choice and 40% memorandum type essay. Memorandum type: They provide the pertinent documents and will ask the examinees to make the pleading. The MCQ (multiple Choice Questions) will be given in July, if the examinees fail, they will be disqualified to take the essay portion on September.
Possible process of choosing the MCQs - expert lawyers in the field will be asked to prepare 200 MCQs to which 10 (or so) lawyers will be asked to answer. Those questions which can be answered by all 10 will be taken out as being too easy, those which none of the 10 can answer will be taken out as too difficult, what remains will compose the database of the MCQs for that particular subject.
Personal suggestion: defer from taking bar exams in 2011 and try to see first as to how they will go about the exam next year. However, they may be a a little bit more lenient next year because of the changes.
