One of my law prof. says that there are murmurs regarding future bar exam that in case the result of this year bar exam is not what everybody expected ( good result, early pronouncement of bar passers...etc.) there is a possibility that the old format be used again, is there a truth to this?

Not the way things were presented in an IBP Forum by SC Asso. Justice Abad ...

Justice Abad admitted that it won't take overnight to perfect the system but SC intends to do it. SC is getting an "experience crash course from PRC" with respect to MCQ.

In his words, the bar in November will be done "with experience" because they pre-tested the examination system last July 2011 with 200 average graduating legal students across the country.

Seems to me SC is bent to get to the level at par with the legal examination system in the US.

I agree with r2ust, I attended a talk in Ateneo and it was affirmed that MCQ is here to stay.

Ok, that settled then, maybe its the laziness of my prof. in saying that cause she still transcribe to the old format when giving quizes and exam.
I'm already in my last year.

actually my prof also told us that maybe next yr we will be back to essay type coz he thinks that the reason why mcq was proposed by justice abad was just that so he can leave a legacy since he is retiring and most probably the next chairman would change it back to the old format since its a bit complicated in doing mcq exam specially in formulating questions... but nahh, i think mcq will stay..

I think MCQs are here to stay for good. And I hope that they will not revert to the old format. 60% MCQs is fair. At least, you will have higher chances of passing the exam if you have really studied well. After all, your fate does not depend on answering several essay questions (which may include several topics that you may not have covered on your review).
